Will my credit score improve once old items are dropped from my credit report?
I’m in the process of improving my credit score. I have 2 items that are old, from Aug. 2002. They are scheduled to be removed from my credit report in Aug. of this year. Once they’re dropped will my credit score improve? Or will it remain the same and just not have those negative items on my report? Please help!
You would be losing history when they fall off. Even though they are negatives their ages are still counted in your history.
If you have a thin file, few accounts in good standing or short history, then you may see no change or possibly a bit of a drop in your scores.
If you have a thick file you may see no change or possibly a rise in your scores.
If your scores do drop then they should rebound in a few months and as long as you keep your other accounts in good standing they should continue to climb.

My credit report still shows a collection account that I had paid off but my credit score has still risen 150-200 in the past year or two.References :
It will definitely improve your score but not a great deal. The majority of your credit score is recent payment history and recent delinquency. So something negative from 2002 dropping off will improve your score it will not have an immense increase.
The best way to keep your score up is to not be late, limit the amount of inquiries you have and try to keep you balance at no more than 50% of your credit line.References :

Yes, but not that much. The older an item, the less impact on your score. By the time a negative reaches the 7 year point, it has very little impact on your score.References :
