What is the best way to get a problem with a credit report fixed?
April 25, 2010 · Posted in Fix Credit Report
I recently checked my credit report and there were some things on it that were not there because of me. What is the best way to go about fixing this?
If you got your credit report from Trans Union, there should be a reference # on the top right hand side. Call their customer service # toll free @ 1-800-916-8800, type in the reference # and that will transfer you to a live person.

Dispute it with credit agencies and/or collection companies that own the debt. On the bad credit stuff, there should be a collection company and its address and phone number. Ask them to "verify" your debt in writing. If they can’t it will be removed off your credit.
Now if you know it is yours, they will verify it and tell you who it is.References :
Go back to the credit report firm & ask them for a consumer interview – they can then send a notification of confirmation of information to those creditors with which you are disputing.References :
