Credit Card Score Repair?

March 12, 2010 · Posted in Credit Score Repair

I’ve applied to probably 12 different credit card companies and have been denied. I recently got a card with first premier and how long would it take for me to build up my credit score? I want to be able to apply to a major credit card.

Also what are some of the ways i can build it, is ti better to pay off my balance in full or just more than the minimum and keep a balance?

Please and Thank You

Stop applying for so many cards. That pulls your score down. Every application for credit, whether you get it or not, is a ding to your score. Don’t be in a rush. You have one, now take care of it. Don’t max it out. Knowing First Premier, it’s probably a $300 card, that’s ok. That’s where I started. Try to get and keep it down to around 25 or 30% of the limit. Don’t apply for any other credit for 6 months or longer. If you stay in the lower balance area and don’t apply for anything else, your score will go up quite a bit. The big guys want to make sure you can handle credit before they give it to you.
